A striking late twentieth-century credenza commissioned by Casa Bique, showcasing a refined Neoclassical silhouette interpreted through an architectural postmodern lens. The case is distinguished by dramatic diagonal pencil-reed fluting that wraps the curved ends, creating a rhythmic, column-like effect that adds both movement and sculptural presence. Measuring 72"W × 21"D × 31"H, the credenza is substantial enough to anchor a dining room, living space, or entry hall while maintaining refined proportions.

Topped with substantial marble, the piece balances visual weight with elegance and restraint. The interior retains its original shelving, providing practical storage behind beautifully crafted doors. More architectural furniture than conventional cabinetry, it brings quiet confidence to a room and works equally well as a dining room sideboard, living room credenza, entry cabinet, or media console.

Produced between 1988 and 1991, this credenza reflects the sophisticated design direction for which Casa Bique became known—combining classical inspiration with clean lines, restrained ornament, and exceptional materials.

As part of COASTAL COLLECTED, a six-part room series by June Hastings inspired by the warmth and charm of rooms near the water, the piece demonstrates how architectural forms and natural materials can create interiors that feel both collected and contemporary.

Collector's Note

Casa Bique was a luxury design house and retailer known for commissioning furniture from European workshops for the American market. Their late-1980s collections are particularly admired for blending classical references with postmodern restraint, favoring architectural forms, natural stone, and sculptural massing over applied decoration. Produced in relatively limited numbers for designer interiors, pieces from this period have become increasingly sought after for their quality, distinctive design, and versatility.
